How to Choose Skid Steer Pallet Forks
Pallet forks look simple, but fork length, frame rating, attachment weight, load center, visibility, and the loader's real lifting ability all matter when you start moving heavy material.
Fork rating is not loader capacity
A fork frame may be rated for more weight than the skid steer can safely lift. The machine's capacity, attachment weight, load center, height, and terrain all affect the usable load.
Choose fork length for the load
Longer forks can make it easier to handle bulky material, lumber, or larger pallets, but they also move weight farther from the machine and can reduce maneuverability.
Watch the load center
A load positioned farther out on the forks creates more leverage against the machine. Keep heavy loads as close to the fork frame as practical and follow the machine manufacturer's operating limits.
Check frame and quick attach
Inspect the fork frame, locking points, fork retainers, welds, and quick-attach fitment. Confirm the attachment is compatible with your machine before purchase.
