Standard Flow vs. High Flow Skid Steer Attachments
Hydraulic compatibility is one of the most important things to check before buying a powered skid steer attachment. Flow rate, pressure, couplers, and case-drain requirements need to match the machine and attachment.
Flow is usually measured in GPM
Auxiliary hydraulic flow is commonly expressed in gallons per minute. An attachment is typically designed to operate within a stated flow range. Too little flow can reduce performance; operating outside the manufacturer's limits can create problems.
Pressure matters too
Flow and pressure are different specifications. Check both the attachment requirements and machine output rather than assuming a high-flow machine automatically matches every hydraulic attachment.
High-flow attachments are not all the same
Mulchers, cutters, planers, grinders, and other demanding tools can have very different hydraulic requirements. Some also need a case drain or specific couplers.
How to check before you buy
Find your machine's auxiliary hydraulic flow and pressure in the operator manual or manufacturer specifications, then compare them to the exact attachment. If you send us the machine make/model, we can help compare it with a listing.
